Whole Body Cryotherapy (WBC) is the process of exposing the body to hyper cooled air -200°F to -300°F, triggering the body’s natural healing mechanisms as though it were freezing. Blood accumulates in the body’s core to become warmed, which expands the capillaries to approximately 4 times the normal diameter. White blood cells flow throughout your body faster, accelerating the healing process by up to 50%. The brain triggers a release of endorphins, adrenaline, and other hormones into your body. During this 2-3 minute process, the brain stimulates the body’s organ regulatory functions resulting in energy increase, cell rejuvenation, immune system boost, and overall system self-healing.
WBC purifies the blood, increases the body’s nutrient flow, and removes toxins from the system. By increasing the rate at which purified blood circulates through the body, the rate at which soft tissues and joints can heal is maximized.
This cold sensation stimulates the skin’s receptors to constrict the blood vessels and rush blood back to the body’s core where it is oxygenated and enriched. Upon exiting the Cryo chamber, your blood vessels will dilate and rush supercharged blood full of anti-inflammatory proteins, endorphins and oxygen throughout your body. This process accelerates the rate of tissue repair, reduces inflammation, increases energy, aids in cell rejuvenation, boosts the immune system, promotes overall system self-healing and boosts the body’s metabolic rate resulting in a residual weight loss of 500-800 calories in the 5 hours post session. While a whole body Cryotherapy session lasts just 2 to 3 minutes, the benefits of this treatment far exceed hours of a traditional ice bath. Furthermore, the cold experienced in the Cryo chamber affects only the skin temperature, 1/2-millimeter-deep, and does not reduce the body’s internal temperature or freeze tissue.
When you arrive at Vivify Wellness Club we will you will fill out a waiver asking your about your health and wellness goals if you did not fill it out electronically along with some quick vital checks. Arrive in street clothing but also bring a pain of workout style shorts and sleeveless shirt. The best results are had when you the maximum amount of skin is exposed. You will want to remove all jewelry and clothing such as bras with metal clasps/hooks. Our Cryo Chambers are located in private rooms, so you have the most privacy available.
An elevator will lift you up so your head is above the chamber. Vivify provides special socks and gloves to protect the delicate skin in those areas. Once you step into the chamber a Vivify associate will enter the room and start your “freeze” and Cryo process. You will stand in the Cryo chamber for 2-3 mins for your session surrounded by the nitrogen vapors. During your Cryotherapy session your surface temperature will drop 30-50 degrees and your vessels will constrict, pushing blood away from extremities and towards your core. This will allow blood to be quickly filtered and oxygenated, removing toxins, reducing inflammation and giving an overall sense of wellbeing. When you exit the Cryo chamber a robe and a team member will be available to answer any questions. If you are Vivfy Club member and have scheduled other services that day you will be taken to the next location.
After your Cryotherapy session has ended the benefits will continue over the 48 hrs and as your surface temperature returns to baseline you will burn 500-800 calories, have better range of motion, reduce inflammation, decrease pain and have a more restful nights sleep. You will want to continue taking in water and electrolytes to receive the maximum benefits.
